Abstract

This study examines the multimodal strategies and cognitive mechanisms underlying information transmission in English and Uzbek media discourse. The study focuses on the Instagram platform, where linguistic and visual semiotic resources are combined. Drawing on theories of multimodal discourse analysis (Kress & van Leeuwen, 2001; O’Halloran, 2008) and Cognitive Linguistics (Lakoff, Langacker, Fauconnier), it examines how content is shaped through the interaction of verbal, visual, and contextual modes. The analysis is based on a comparative study of Instagram posts representing English and Uzbek media discourse and sheds light on how different cultural and cognitive orientations influence message formation and interpretation. By comparative analysis of multimodal and cognitive tendencies, this study contributes to a broader understanding of how digital communication practices reflect culturally specific ways of perceiving, processing, and disseminating information.
