Abstract

In the content of education, instead of “acquiring ready-made knowledge”, activities such as “identifying a problem in practice, developing strategies for solving it, evaluating alternative solutions, drawing conclusions” are becoming a priority. Problem-based learning (PBL) - an approach that organizes learning through a problem situation - is effective in developing precisely such skills, and in this process it is closely related to the concept of forming critical thinking. This thesis analyzes the theoretical foundations of critical thinking and problem-based learning, their interdependence, how they are used in the professional activities of teachers, and in particular, their strategic importance for future English language teachers.
