Abstract

This article examines the transformation of female mythical images in English fantasy literature through the characters of Galadriel and Hermione Granger created by J. R. R. Tolkien and J. K. Rowling. Fantasy literature has combined mythological traditions with modern literary imagination and has created a new system of characters. Significant changes can be observed in the representation of female figures. Galadriel embodies the traditional archetype of the wise and powerful mythical woman, while Hermione Granger represents the emergence of a modern female hero characterized by intelligence, independence and active participation in events. The article analyzes the artistic functions, mythological foundations and literary significance of these characters through a comparative approach. The findings demonstrate that female characters in fantasy literature have evolved from passive symbolic figures into active agents who influence the course of events. Furthermore, this transformation reflects broader cultural and social changes related to the perception of women in contemporary society.
