INTERPRETATION OF THE CONCEPT OF "MENTAL LEXICON" IN PSYCHOLINGUISTICS AND COGNITIVE LINGUISTICS

This article studies the nature, structure and mechanisms of operation of the concept of "mental lexicon" within the framework of psycholinguistics and cognitive linguistics, which are considered to be the most relevant areas of modern linguistics. The article analyzes how words are stored in memory, the system of cognitive connections, and the role of the mental lexicon in the process of perception and formation of speech. It also highlights the fundamental differences between traditional dictionaries and the virtual dictionary in the human brain. The essence of the scientific work of scientists who have studied the mental lexicon is highlighted.
