MORPHOMETRIC INDICATORS OF THE KIDNEYS IN CEREBROVASCULAR DISEASES DEVELOPED IN DIFFERENT AGE GROUPS

Abstract

The analysis of age-related pathomorphological changes in the kidneys associated with cerebrovascular diseases based on multiplex morphometric indicators demonstrated that the main features of age-related renal degradation in cerebrovascular disorders are reflected in morphometric parameters. In patients aged 60–74 years (elderly) and 75–90 years (senile age), cerebrovascular diseases are accompanied by involutional changes in the renal parenchyma and a loss of functional activity due to nephrosclerosis. These findings indicate that, in ischemic strokes developing as a consequence of cerebrovascular diseases, renal filtration function in elderly and senile patients decreases to a critical level (below 30 ml/hour), reflecting significant impairment of kidney function.
