In-depth analysis of the effectiveness of metacognitive teaching methods in the process of forming students' reading comprehension skills at the primary education stage is of great importance in increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of education. Scientific and methodological research conducted in this area shows that the student's competencies such as perceiving, remembering, distinguishing the main idea in the text, generalizing information and analyzing it are further developed in the educational process based on the metacognitive approach.
