THE ISSUE OF THE ORIGIN OF THE AFRIGHID DYNASTY IN FOREIGN HISTORIOGRAPHY: APPROACHES AND VIEWS

The article analyzes the main approaches and views formed in foreign historiography on the issue of the origin of the Afrighid dynasty. The research is based on three main approaches in foreign historiography — the Iranian theory, the Turkic theory, and the skeptical approach — are distinguished, and the methodological foundations, evidence, and shortcomings of each are revealed. The views of Iranian scholars such as B. Gharib, P. Azkoyi, J. Heravi, and J. Mufrad regarding the etymology of the term “Afrigh” are comparatively analyzed. As a result of the research, the conclusion is drawn that it is appropriate to consider the dynasty as a political structure of a poly-ethnic character.
